"God gave us a mouth that closes and ears that don't - which should tell us something." - anonymous
usually i don't want to open up my ears to anybody telling me what i have to do and when i have to do it.
for example:
my parent telling me which chores and why.
my french teacher going on and on in a french class.
feeling the sudden, strong urge to cover my ears when a parent is telling me something i've done wrong.
but there's times when i do want to listen. like when i'm curled up in bed, everything is completely dark, and thunder crashes above me while rain plunks on the roof. the music coming out of my laptop's speakers as i chat to friends or do my math. the funny noises my dog makes that i wish she'd just do over and over, because they're just so funny... being in a mall, and hearing one of your favourite songs start playing, and pausing to listen. that friend of yours who's laugh is amazing. the funny little things that little cousins say in they're squeaky, high voices. the sound of waves lapping up onto shore. the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves then blaring into you and weaving your hair through it's fingers.
overall i think we should try to plug our ears as little as possible.
